Personally, I have always been partial to asking questions which
require the reviewee to examine what he's learned more closely and
thereby extend himself. Some that I've been known to ask are:
What do you feel is the most important point of the Scout Law? Why?
What are the characteristics of a good leader? Which are you strong
in and which do you feel you still need some work at?
What is your role in keeping the troop running smoothly? (especially
good for earlier rank BORs)
What was your favorite/ least favorite requirement for this rank
(favorite/least favorite MB for later ranks)? Why?
This way I try to make the BOR into a useful learning experience for
the scout, rather than just a dry rehashing of his work.
