Another alternative for ppl who are having problems with large amounts
of mail on their systems is to set up a freenet account which you can
telnet into and read mail news and do many other things. I believe there
is a file on the listserver that lists some of these freenets. You won't
get all the luxuries of a commercial or university acct, but they are
fine for email.
