I ahve been an ASM for 14 months and in addition to trying to
learn my job, do my job, help the kids, etc etcit appears from this
discussion that I now have to constantly be in fear of being canned for
a false accusation? I wholeheartedly support the "2 to be safe" rule
and I always stick by it but what I am getting from this list (no real
discusssion of the procedures has ocurred in either of my troops because
it hasn't happened thank God) is that if some Scout acuuses me of
something that I will be immediately suspended (makes sense), eith
investigated and/or turned over to the cops, thrown out of the BSA
(12 years of my life) whether charges are true or not, and a possible
ruined life. It seems to me that this would dissuade a lot of leaders
from participating. It seems to me that even of you always have 5
leaders and 10 Scouts around you and you have 3 leaders in the car that
you can still be ruined? Please tell me this isn't so. I would like to
get an actual copy of the policy and procedures because I've got enough
to worry about at 19 (like college, future, who's going to the World
Series) than to worry about that one kid who didn't get the merit
badge.....
