Administrative: SCOUTS-L Overload

Jon Eidson (EIDSON@TCUBVM.IS.TCU.EDU)
Mon, 21 Mar 1994 22:50:22 CST

I guess it must be the spring weather (or spring breaks) the has
everyone "talking", but the SCOUTS-L has hit the list limit for the
4th time in a week. There is a 50 email limit that is placed on lists
at which time a list is automatically held (I have even thought of
lower the limit at times:) after which I must take action to restart it.

While I dont want to discourage postings, I think we should all think
twice before we post to the entire list. Try to reply directly to
individuals first ... unless you really feel you have something NEW
to contribute that is of value to all.

For those of you whom are having trouble handling all the email, try
using the digest feature. To turn on the digest, send email to
LISTSERV@tcubvm.is.tcu.edu with a one line message (ie no headers or
signature lines) that says "SET SCOUTS-L DIGEST". To return to
normal usage, send "SET SCOUTS-L MAIL". We hate to lose people
from our list due to too much volume, but I fear that is the number
one reason people unsubscribe from SCOUTS-L.

Your consideration is appreciated.

Yours in Scouting,
Jon Eidson, Listowner Scouts-L
