Re: Girls in Scouts

On the thread of the girls at Summer camp issue.....

I have done a few international events with girl explorers and I
think it went fine. Our summer camp since I've been going (7 years)
has had adult women on staff and it's been fine. My first scout camp
(Camp Rotory - Chatham, MI- Tall Pines Council or Lake Huron Area
Council) had a young girl on staff working in the trading post and the
whole camp of boys were constantly talking about her and their "plans"
for her. It took some of the camp "with the boys" spirit away from
camp.....
Last year I was in the Leader's Lounge at Camp and a discussion
got going between the Camp Director and staff about girls coming to camp
in 94 (this year). The C.D. said that if there were girls this year he
'd quit......well this year we have a new camp director and I am the
Quartermaster.....I shall let you know what types of problems we have if
any.....sure is going to be interseting having G.S. troops in camp....
