Re: What is Scout Spirit?

By saying scout spirit (to me) is living the scout oath and law, I meant it
to be general. I find it rather hard to develop a definitive list of 74
ways to exhibit scout spirit. I believe that scout spirit can truly mean
different things to different people, depending on the subject and
environment.
Through my post, I am searching to see how others view scout spirit. Some
boys may say that they show scout spirit by wearing their uniforms and
showing up at events and activities. Is this a good answer? Not in my
opinion. But, given my definition, this answer may garner some respect.
I leave my interpretation vague because not everyone can attend the national
events, go on all the troops weekends, be active in the troop, etc. But
IMHO, if the scout is doing his best in everything he tries, maintains a
clean and healthy mind, body, and soul, has good intentions in his actions,
then he has exhibited (in my eyes) scout spirit.
Is there more to it than that? Absolutely! But individual definitions may
need to be 'tailored' to the individual scout (or scouter) in question.
