I'm very interested in exchanging information and ideas with you. While I was
in The Netherlands, working with the First The Hague British Scout Group, I
made a link for our Group with the 54rd and 54th Plzen Scout Groups. We went
to summer camp with them in 1992 in the Czech Republic (near Potato
Mountain), and they came to summer camp with us last July in Belgium.

During our Day Out in Praha in 1992 nearly everyone went on a walking tour of
the city. After seeing Hrad Chany, I let the rest of them go on, and one of
the Senior Scouts from the 54th Plzen and I went to the Scout Shop. After
seeing how quickly Scouting is returning to life in the Czech Republic, I was
happy that we could be a part of it. I have returned more than once to visit
my friends, and plan to return again... and again... and again! I might be
back for the Liberation Day 50th Anniversary in Plzen next May, and have even
found an older man (whose son is in my Scout Troop here) who was a soldier in
the U.S. Army when he entered Plzen all those years ago. He recently retired
from being a Supreme Court judge in the American state of Delaware.

I very much enjoy the traditions I found while camping with the 53rd Plzen
that first summer, although those early morning exercises were something
really different!
