Sorry for the delay in responding to you but I currently only have
access to the internet through work and we have every other friday
off(we work 9 hr days). I should explain something. When I mentioned
in the past that our district is composed of religous units, what I
should have said is that we only have 3 units out of approximately 120
or so that are not LDS (this varies from district to district). So as
district people, we need to remember
to keep our terminology generic and not incorporate local religious
terminology. Our council is actually 90% (roughly) LDS units.
With that explained, what happens at Boy Scout Roundtable is that
everybody meets together to start with and then when the program
feature comes up, those with the 11 year old boys (the LDS Blazers)
break off and one of the roundtable staff (this person is a
member of the district boy scout committee and is the
district's liason with the 11 year old age group (the Blazers
with the LDS units) teaches them skills relevant
to the theme for that group. We also have another section where
committee members can go to ask questions and learn more about their
job. And we have show the fast start video in the past to new leaders.
Then everyone comes back together for the rest of the roundtable.
As Kathy mentioned there is only one Boy Scout Roundtable for the
district. The roundtable should be run according to national's
guidelines.
As far as the district camps go, all the boys particpate as patrols
at district and council camps at the same games . At my own district
we keep track of the 11 year old patrol (or Blazer) and judge them
separately. Usually the blazer patrol with the LDS unit comes with
the troop, sometimes at a winter camp they came the morning of the
games and do not stay overnight. It depends.
