*BOO---HISS---BOO---HISS--- *grinning* *nostalgia mode on* I was a
longtime Scout, Explorer and Scouter with the "old" Old Kentucky Home
Council (the Lincoln Heritage's Kentucky predecessor), living at Fort
Knox for years before going off to Eastern Kentucky. Your old DE
(several times removed --Greg Cohen) was later my boss in Pikeville,
and later on the Assistant Council Executive in Lexington before he
left the profession about three years back. Chuck Ciccarrelli (five
DEs before Greg), is now in Florida as the Council Executive in either
Sarasota or St. Pete (I forget which). There were a couple of others
that I remember.....
As far as the *old* Lincoln Trail District (before demographics split
it like it did part of Seneca), our best DE went onward to serve as
Council Executive in Middletown, Ohio and points northward. Yes, it
was some great Scouting going on in the Louisville Area Council...and
I *do* remember Troop 1!! Troop 1 was the "model" for all of the
Council's Troops. It wasn't the first Council unit for nothing, you
know!
Monkey Bridges at Scout-o-Rama each year and the BEST Scouters to come
forth from that District and went onward to serve as part of the best
Scouting training team I've ran across in my young life!
If you're wondering whom *I* am, look back at the old OKHC Annual
Reports (or in the Council Newsletters) and you'll see me perhaps in
an Exploring teeshirt or a Scouter blazer...or in a green
Scout shirt (they WERE *Scout shirts* back then...1974). I was the
OKHC's first Council Explorer Presidents' Association Chair...for two
years, then onward to Area, Regional and National positions. I also
did the annual Exploring reports to the Council each year during the
late 70s (starting with 1975).
I miss Camp Covered Bridge, Rough River Reservation, and the
Zit-Kala-Sha Lodge. I DON'T MISS HORINE!! (It was on a side of a
hill!)
My, how time just gets by you....it seems yesterday that we've heard
the Hillenbrands (really influncial names in Scouting and the eastern
Jefferson County communities!!) were going to do the ALL OUT FOR
SCOUTING! program at the fairgrounds...today, you'd better duck, for
all of the Kentucky Kingdom rides and things out there. It *has* been
some time. *nostalgia mode off*

Tony's a great guy...he wanted me to serve on the Conservation and
Environmental Staff at the Jamboree, when he was on the Jamboree Task
Force....but as usual, I just couldn't get the technical details (how
to get there, how much time to leave work...etc..etc...) down, so I
lost out. Oh well...there WILL be the next one, I guess!

Welcome to the list! I hope that you find here things that you can
share with the folks in the Great Seneca District (with that GREAT
looking (but illegal) District patch! Don't be a stranger!
