Re: "Scouts council to offer AIDS education"

Bravo for the Girl Scouts! They are providing skills and information needed
in a culture that is increasingly dangerous for young people. Thay they have
tried to do something with such a challenge as AIDS is a commendable show
of leadership by GSUSA. The Boy Scouts cannot on the one hand take extra-
ordinary measures to deal with sexual abuse and on the other pretend that
our boys are not sexually at risk of AIDS.

Mr Kevin Torres' missive about Levi Strauss supporting an AIDS program for
Girl Scouts seems to make evident an unfortunate trend in our beleaguered
society: the welfare of children is often sacrificed to the hidden agenda
of political or religious forces. How ironic should this issue arise in
Scouting!
