Kevin,
Aside from trying to look Good in the eyes of "those at home" (SF), Levi's
is now finding a use for the $$ they took away from BSA two years ago. I
suppose they are realizing the image damage they caused by dropping their
BSA contributions, and the loss in sales from the BSA folks going to
Wrangler instead of Levi Jeans for the preferred pants.
In courting the GSUSA (who I suspect will not turn down ANY $$) they are
hoping the public will see them as community and Scouting minded again. They
could have just as easily given the $$ direct to AIDs foundations (which
they do) but the gift to Girl Scouting was politically motivated, I'm sure.
