This last sentence is critical. "Sports' parents" (if I can use
that term) may not approach scouting the same way as other parents.
They may have a real competitive and winning atitude when it come to
their son and may think that since "Johnny" can't be the best and on top
he should concentrate in an area where he can. Just telling the parents
that it is not necessary to advance as fast may fuel their resolve to
limit his other (scouting) activities. Be careful.
