Amen to that! I fear the respectability that the Eagle rank has long
enjoyed. Working on a summercamp staff for several years, I've run
accross many Eagle Scouts. Almost without exception, Eagles that received
their Eagle before their 14th birthday did not have the skills or
leadership ability that an Eagle shoud have. Scouts under age 14 are
still learning how to lead and are still picking up the outdoor skills of
a true camper. I've seen 14 yr. old Eagles that couldn't do a square
lashing. IMHO, BSA should have kept the time requirements for the lower
ranks, or somehow insure that new Eagles are well prepared for set the
example that The Eagle Rank demands. Have a nice day!:)
