Your point that APO is "discriminatory" where it comes to having to know
about certain aspects of the fraternity's history, customs, etc., is
not well taken. <ALL> fraternities and sororities require that for
membership, as far as I know. And BSA requires that a boy know certain
aspects of Scouting history to join, too....:)
Here at the university, student organizations that seek a legal relationship
with the university are required to subscribe to the Title IX non-discri-
mination policy...EXCEPT for social fraternities (which does not include
APO, and need not, since APO is coed and has the open membership policy).
I just wanted to clarify that point because I think the wrong word was used.
In the APO pledge program at Tau Omicron, "I don't know" is a legitimate
answer to any question asked at a pledge review. I can't remember the
actives EVER turning someone away because of either not knowing the answers
or not completing the service requirement or not having the money to pay
the fees or whatever....
It <is> interesting to hear that APO is no longer allowed to use the
fleur-de-lis. <That> explains why "The College Connection" brochure
isn't available anymore...I think it sad that this connection seems to
be dissolving rapidly at a time when my own chapter is working quite
hard to establish ties with the local council...
