In most cases, the working titles are the SAME as the bragging titles.
There are many Scouters that only do ONE job, like the District
Chairman or the District Commissioner or Assistant District
Commissioner. That's the way it SHOULD be, Pat. Since I don't work
with a unit, have nothing to do with a camp or camporee, the title I
use when I sit in on a board of review is the only one I have.
I do understand your concern, but this could be used as a positive
thing too. For instance, which of the two sounds better:
"Hi Jim. My name is Mike Walton and I'm the Lost River District's
Membership-Relationships Chairman."
or.....
"Hi Jim. My name is Mike Walton, and I work in a variety of roles
with the Lost River District. Tonight, I am serving as a Council
representative for your Board of Review."
The first one is more direct and sounds more like you're trying to
impress the poor lad. He don't care what role you play, he just wants
to know why you're there. The second one puts the kid at ease and
keeps the focus on the kid, not the adults. It also defines what role
you are playing during the Review.
