As a Girl Scout Leader with and without my daughter in my troop, with
parental "help", I know the problem. We have a standing rule in my
troop: no-one disciplines their own child. My co-leader would always
deal with my daughter, and I would handle hers. This keeps everything
on the Leader - Girl level, and keeps family stuff out of the meeting.
I let my moms know about the rule, and they love it! When we go out
as a group kids and parents don't even ride in the same car, unless
we have to put only 1 kid in a car w/ the equipment. In a BS troop,
why not have your dad "help" the other patrol? Tell him that it isn't
fair to have him help his own kid when the other parents can't come
to help their kids every meeting. Also, kids need some "non-parent
time" when with their friends. Tell him you need him as troop support,
not as a parent.
