Alpha Phi Omega

Beach Bum - Dave Bujak (dave%db.erau.edu@HARVUNXW.BITNET)
Sun, 23 Jan 1994 12:22:46 -0500

I'm a second-semester freshman at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in
Daytona Beach, FL. Two things I am very interested in doing at this
school is 1.) getting an Alpha Phi Omega fraternity chapter organized and
2.) sponsoring an Aviation Exploring post.

In regards to the Alpha Phi Omega fraternity, I know practically nothing
except for the fact that they exist. Is/has anyone ever been a member of
APO or have information regarding it?

Regarding starting an Aviation Exploring post. Can a school club (i.e. an
APo chapter, or Society for Automotive Engineers) be a chartering
organization for an explorer post? Or would the school itself have to be
the sponsor? What is the track record of college organizations sponsoring
scout/explorer groups?

Basically, I am a former scout, and an Eagle. I have this natural urge to
continue work in Scouting, but not really by volunteering with a regular
scout troop. I figured that the best university in the country for
aviation would have at least one aviation explorer post.

Any information on both topics would be appreciated.
