I have a similar bunch, and they are now busily planning a 10-day bike
hike on the C&O canal trail near Washington, D.C. Perhaps there is a
rails to trails facilty you could use?
My troop enjoys it when we can combine an outdoor activity with
writing, visual arts, or photography. (I guess they like combining
activites in general -- we usually end up doing two or three things at
a time...)
