Re: Women as Scoutmasters

George,
My impression is that there will always be some EXTREME fringe
people that can FIND or TAKE offense at anything! Even if you drop
"person", and refer to the individual as "Committee CHAIR", some people
have pointed out that CHAIR has a gender associated with it in language
such as French and German. (I am not sure if a chair is male or FE-male)
((man or WO-man)). Anyway, I have also heard objections to the use
of CHIEF executive officer! Maybe we just call them a IIC ?
(INDIVIDUAL IN CHARGE !)

I tried to make a recent analogy about all the BATTLES and fighting
in BSA/USA. When scouting in the US was founded, we had a fairly
simple agenda, to try to assist young individuals to become an
"adult" and create a better world for the future. NOW it seems
that far too much time and resources are spent on arguments,
court battles, and even keeping young people OUT of scouting.

I think I liked it better when we lived in a more simple world.
I am just a simple kind of being I guess. I still believe that
SCOUTING should be and COULD BE for everyone!

Don I,
scouter, since '57
