"The Boy-Man: The Life of Lord Baden-Powell"

I receive book catalogs from a variety of sources. One of these is "Edward R.
Hamilton, Bookseller" in Falls Village, CT. About twice a month they send out
a newspaper tabloid listing of their current selections (the November 19 issue
was 64 pages long). If you are willing to wade through all the entries, you
can find some good deals. I am guessing that they buy out overstocks, etc.,
passing the savings on to the customer. The catch is that they have no phone
number and do not accept credit cards. You mail in your order with a check or
money order. Anyway, here is something with might be of interest to some of
you. It is in the November 19th issue, page 2, column 2, third entry:

"337870 THE BOY-MAN: The Life of Lord Baden-Powell. By Tim Jeal.
A full and objective biography of the founder of the Boy Scouts, based
on unique access both to those who knew him and to an immense range
of previously unstudied private papers, 'exceptionally perceptive and
humane' -- Victoria Glendinning. Illus. 670 pages. Morrow. Pub. at
$24.95. (your cost) $9.95."

Their order form is very simple. List the quantity, item number (337870),
title, and price. Add $3.00 for postage and handling. Connecticut
residents need to add sales tax. Send it to:

Edward R. Hamilton
Falls Village, CT 06031-5000

I have been a customer of theirs for over a year now (orders now and then)
and have been very satisfied with their product and service. The books are
in very good condition and they have an unconditional guarantee...if you are
not satisfied with any book purchased from their catalog, return it for a full
refund, no questions asked.

Some of you might be a bit suspicious about a mail order company which does
not have a phone number or accept credit cards. I, quite frankly, would be
too! I can photocopy and fax the listing and order form to those who are
seriously interested (I don't want to run up a big phone bill!). E-mail me
your name and fax number.
