To Kathie Cerveny
Kathie, the problem is that it is pretty expensive to set up and run a
summer camp what with the staff training and other things that go into it.
Most councils will run their camps for anywhere from four to eight weeks
during the summer depending on the number of Troops/Scouts and how many
Troops/Scouts the camp can take care of at any given time.
I think that most councils are going to be locked into having their summer
camps at about the same time as they do now, that means that in order to
have the same staff available during that time, all of the staff must be on
the same school schedule as well as the kids attending the camp. There is
some consideration to trying to have mult sesions, but that is going to
drive the cost up for all.
