And this is something I do not dispute!
I respect everybody's right to have an opinion I disagree with.

But you must realize that Scouting is based exactly on those outmoded
victorian era values - and they were "outmoded" even at the time of
BP, even though most people just paid lip service to them.
That's why Scouting is "paddling your own canoe against the stream",
and will always be so. It will offer hard choices - and that's not
just about sleeping in a cold tent or in your comfortable home!

Either you accept all of those values, or you don't. You can't say "I
agree with honesty, outdoors life, building leadership, but not with
service to others". You can't pick and choose and still call that
Scouting; you are doing something else. And I am not implying that it
is something bad, or something inferior; it's just something
different, and it should be called differently.

But it is unfair not to accept Scouting as it is, and then go aroud
saying that Scouting doesn't accept you.

Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I have many feelings, pulsions,
emotions and desires according to whom I don't act. But I don't think
of myself as a "repressed glutton", anyway. :-)

Ciao!
