Actually Jo, as I understand it, they voted to allow an appropriate word to
be substituted in place of "God" that represents the diety of choice for the
girl... that's not the same thing as making the reference to God "optional".
Since I have this from a quote from the transcripts of the voting session, I
suggest you might want to check your sourse of information (and don't use
the newspapers as a sourse, they've reported it three different ways
already).
Some may interpret it as you have noted, but that was NOT the intent of the
GSUSA national vote.
