Chill! re: bandwidth, sig blocks, seasonal greetings

Chill! as my kids would say. Is it MY imagination, or have some of
the exchanges on this list become a bit testy lately? We haven't quite
resorted to name calling, things have gotten close. The level of
discussion and professional diversity of this list have always been
strong points.
And for the points of latest contention:
I don't have any restrictions, so am in sympathy re bandwidth
for those who suffer, but we REALLY don't have many people who abuse
quotes and sig blks(sorry, but, Mike, I like your OLD one better. And
without your permission, I have been known to say when someone
complains when I'm the first to work that: "There's no such
thing as strong coffee....." I do give you proper attribution
for the quote. And please tell Jessi to keep the rose.)
I think all of us on this list know that we aren't the perfect
leader and don't have the #1 know-it-all-very-best unit. But
every once in a while something so good (or bad) happens that
we need to tell someone and who else but the subscribers of this
list would understand. I've never taken any of those postings as
bragging, but just sharing the exuberance and enthusiasm of
scouting successes. There have been many cases of my reading of
YOUR good fortune giving me a little boost myself. Peter, I
printed a couple of copies of your pack meeting report to share
with people: Look at this! 35 leaders! With a pack that size
and that much going on, I don't know whether to offer congratulatios
or sympathy! I've learned A LOT from these reports. I have a
file of ideas, successes, failures from this list and it has
helped me a great deal. It was discussions regarding woodbadge
on this list that convinced me to take the course and I am
grateful for that. I'm sure that others have been influenced
or helped by the sometimes 'silly' topics that we go into.
Let's just not forget why we're here. I'd to wish all of you the
very best as the holiday season approaches. We all have a lot to
be thankful for, and for myself, I include all of you, your wisdom,
your support, your friendship.
Yours in Scouting,
Jim Holman
