For what it is worth, Girl Scouts USA just voted at their annual
meeting (by a wide margin) to make the reference to God in the GS
promise optional. It took my troop a little time to get used to, since
they had always repeated the promise in complete unison, and timing
was a problem. But the Buddhist girls felt much more comfortable. You
see, not all atheists are irreligious. I hope BSA catches up before my
son discovers his faith.
