OA Ordeal

It may vary from lodge to lodge, but at Ty-Ohni Lodge 95, Otetiana
Council, Rochester, NY... The election procedure is conducted by the
scouts. Based on the number of members in the troop and certain number of
scouts are eligible for each ordeal. For example, a troop of 40 scouts
may elect 4 candidates... Adult OA nominations are also made by scouts,
in conjunction with the troop committee. Basically, for scouts, the role
of the OA is defined and the scouts are allowed to elect candidates. As
far as I recall, the SM has no authority to refuse or allow the scouts an
opportunity to conduct the ordeal contrary to the vote.
