In reference to being seen as a boy scout. It is all in the mind of the
individual involved. When I was in 10th grade (during the Vietnam years in
suburban Detroit) my photograph in BSA Uniform appeared in the Year book.
NO ONE ever said anything to me about that photograph. If anyone had said
something I would have ignored it. I know who I was (scouting had helped
here) and most of the people who know me knew they would end up looking
stupid if they tried to make anything out of my being a scout. You cannot
tell me presures are greater now. Anti-establishment feelings were running
quite high in the early 70's. Yes this was a public scholl and we had
idiots in the john smoking pot, etc just like many schools do now.

The bottom line, I did scouting because I WANTED TO, the opinions of any of
my school buddies on this matter were moot and were not going to direct me
away or to something I wanted to do. (In other words, I rather mess up my
own life than let someone else do it for me!)
