Halfway Military Ranks or Titles in Posts

Let me first say that I am not requesting quotes from national policy or
what someone belives to be national policy. I have the same books everyone
else does.
What I am looking for is information about how real posts do things in the
real world.
The post that I advise primarily participates in historical military
reenactments. On the field or in living history publications, listing post
leaders as president, vice president, assoc. advisor, etc. does not fit into
the historical and military theme.
I'm familiar with almost every rank of every branch of our military since
1775, so what I'm looking for is if any posts give secondary titles to their
officers that are more in keeping with their program.
I know that Sea Scouts have this, and I have their rank/rating system in
front of me. My question to Sea Scout people would be how come the adults
have officer rank and the youth have NCO rating?
Any information would be appreciated.
