100 years of Scouting (2007)

Jean-Francois Lagarde (aag160@hermes.ulaval.ca)
Sun Jun 21 09:48:41 1998

Hello everyone,

I received this email last week from the scoutscan-l mailling list. I
thought you could be also interested by this...

---------- Forwarded message ----------

The second century of Scouting will begin August 1st, 2007. From the WSB
web site:

We need a theme and a logo!

The Task Force is making a worldwide appeal for ideas concerning a 2007
theme and emblem/logo. Any member of a Scout organization is invited to
submit ideas to the World Scout Bureau by 1st September 1998. National
Scout organizations are encouraged to promote this search and to forward
ideas to the Bureau, but they are not asked to "select the best" from their
country. This is not a contest, although there will be recognition for the
individuals whose proposal is finally chosen. Suggestions will also be
invited on the Internet. Information about 2007 will soon appear on the
World Scouting pages: www.scout.org. Feedback can be sent to
2007@world.scout.org The aim is to have an emblem which can be used
worldwide. The theme and the logo/emblem should be simple and convey: 1)
youth, 2) education, and 3) future. (This is no so much the end of an "old"
century as the the dawning - the sunrise - of the second 100 years of
Scouting) The logo/emblem must incorporate the World Scout Emblem, and
"2007" and/or "100". It should be usable in a wide variety of applications,
languages, national emblems, etc.
