Re: A Few Questions

We do not know the details yet about anything related to Ventrure Crews and
Explorer Clubs!!! However, Sea Scouting will remain unchanged.

SEA SCOUT IN SEA SCOUT SHIPS
Youth Petty Officers (Ship's Company)
Boatswain
Boatswain's Mate
Yeoman
Purser
Storekeeper
------------
Ship's Boats
Coxswain
Leading Seaman
Boat Crewmembers

Sea Scouts have their own advancement system
Apprentice SS
Ordinary SS
Able SS
Quartermaster Award
Boy Scout ranks are either not worn or the metal badge is worn over the left
pocket.
The Eagle medal is always worn. Many Sea Scouts wear the matching knot on
their uniform.

The "SEA EXPLORER MANUAL" 1997 Edition will answer most of your questions.

Sea Scouts have a program but participate in any activities the members
choose by vote!!

Most of my Sea Scouts remain active in their troops. We encourage them to do
that.

Many Sea Scouts are dually registered.

Sea Scout ranks are included in Boy Scout advancement, see your Eagle
application.

Used uniforms are alway at a premium!!!

The Exploring Post program is being divided into Venture Crews and Explorer
Posts on 1 August 1998. Venture Crew members may probably be able to again
work on the Silver and Ranger rank tracks They have been discontinued since
1965.

LFL Explorer Club participants will probably have something too. We
should know more after 1 July 1998.

Yours In Sea Scouting;
Bill Sills
