Disclaimer: This is my understanding of what I heard and read. I do not
speak for BSA.

I had the pleasure and privilege of attending the National Meeting and thought
I'd give you a report on some items of interest. Perhaps someone can post this
to Explorer-Net; my e-mail apparently refuses to do so. I'm assuming my first
Part I vanished and wasn't "broadcast," so I'm repeating info here.

1. Venturing and Exploring
Yes, career posts go to Learning for Life as Exploring Posts. Explorers
won't be registered with BSA, but they could also pay a registration fee and
be registered as Scouts or Venturers. Arts and Hobbies, Sports, Outdoors,
Youth
Ministries, and Sea Scout specialty cluster units will become Venturing Crews,
with a crew president, etc.

2. Venturing and Venture
Troops can have venture patrols under the leadership of a venture patrol
leader. I don't think they'll be able to have co-ed activities, though.

3. Six experience areas: social, fitness, outdoor, service, leadership, and
citizenship

4. Uniform
"The BSA will offer the traditional spruce-green uniform shirt for
Venturers. It is recommended that crews adopt a charcoal gray casual pant
and/or backpacking-style short for their uniform. However, each crew may
determine what, if any, specific uniform pants or shorts they will wear
based on crew activities."
