Jim,
This is exactly why the new Division was created. To allow the continuation of
support to the community through character building programs. There are some
programs that if kept under the umbrella of the BSA, that will not be as
successful in the private sector (Law Enforcement, Fire, etc)

The BSA is continuing its support of values to those who subscribe, and at the
same time reaching out to as many young people and their adult counterparts as
possible.

In response to "Scouting doesn't take place in a classroom"., I can just say you
are right. Howerver, LFL is not the direct opposite of Scouting. LFL is not
Scouting as we know it, but it is a branch of the Scouting movement reaching out
to those who do not have Boy Scouting. Young women, urban youth, rural youth, and
non Scouts looking towards the future. LFL is a school based program to develop
character in those children who do not get that type of development in the home.
LFL is a great program. Associating Exploring with it opens the door for the BSA
to continue serving youth. And isn't that why we are volunteers in the program?
To serve youth?

Chris
