Venturer vs Explorer

Jim Miller is absolutely on target. "The power to tax is the power to destroy."
"Nothing is more fickle than government." My entire career as an investment banker
has been built under a few premises. The one applicable in this situation is NEVER
TRUST THE GOVERNMENT. As soon as you rely on a governmental program and count upon
its consistency, it will be terminated!!!
Sea Scouting in the "GREAT MIDWEST"'s Central Region is primarily privately
supported. That is why the Sea Scouts and leaders in the Central Flotilla have no
compelling interest in selling out the moral and religious principles of our moral
movement in order to get any subsidies or grants.
Interestingly enough, a few Explorer Advisors had questioned ships changing back
to Sea Scouts and to remaining a part of the traditional BSA program. We conducted
an informal survey in Central Flotilla which will be completed at "Operation
Rising Tide" this June at Great Lakes Naval Training Center. Even though the
changes are moot because they are now graven in stone, we have gone forward with
compiling the survey rsults.
It appears that we have some Exploring Advisors on the internet that
are even further "out of touch" with Sea Scouting than we ever imagined. Our
informal survey results show NO STATISTICALLY SIGNIFICANT vote for anything but
Sea Scouting and NO VOTE for going to LFL. Amazingly enough, not one single vote
nor comment even considered going to LFL. The comments we did get showed great
fear and concern about being able to stay in the traditional BSA.
Our results are totally, diametrically opposed to the opinions posited by the
Exploring Advisors.
It certainly appears that the National Council "got it absolutely
correctly" as far as the Sea Scouts and officers of Central Flotilla are
concerned!!!
