Starting an EOA

Jason T Selkowitz (selkowtz@u.washington.edu)

Fellow Explorers,

I have got the Explorer executives of my council interested in starting
an EOA here for Chief Seattle #609. I have looked over the Exploring
District/Council Operations Guide, which covers the EOA somewhat, but
many questions were brought up:

* For a council with a lot of posts, would you form District EOAs
similar to OA Chapters? How large would you have to be to warrant that?

* Who are the officers, advisors, and members of the EOA? How are they
chosen?

* How often does the EOA meet?

* What kind of things does the EOA do?

* Will Council EOAs need to split in two (like the National EOA
reportedly will) after the LFL-Explorer/Venturer split this summer?

* What BSA publications provide info about the EOA?

* How does the Council EOA fit into the District, Council, and Region?

At this point, we're all looking around for as much information as
possible. So if you're involved with an EOA and could tell me how it
works (or how it is supposed to work :-), I'd be very grateful. Links
to existing websites would be welcome. Also, if there are any Explorers
on this list from the Chief Seattle Council, please get in touch with me
privately. Many thanks!

YiE,

Jason T. Selkowitz
