Meetings & Programs

William H. Sills (whs@idcnet.com)
Thu Jan 22 11:46:33 1998

Mark asked whether we have weekly meetings in the USA. All ships and posts vary,
success in achieving uniformity in the Exploring Division is at the same rate as
herding cats. <VBG> However, the Sea Scout Explorer Manual calls for weekly
meetings, one with the Quarterdeck, two ship meetings and one
fun/educational/social activity. In practice, my ships have weekly meetings and
then sail on weekends when there's good ice and in the summer. Also, we have
maintenace work, regattas, competitions, etc. Most posts in my area have weekly
meetings. Many Posts meet more frequently during school, some meet mostly in the
summer, etc. (Back to herding cats again!)

Eaxploring Officers Associations and Sea Scout Quarterdecks usually meet
quarterly. Our Quarterdeck meets monthly simply because we are quite active and
must budget for and maintain many $$$ worth of boats and equipment.

I hope this helps.
