Re: Blanket Permission Slip

I think there are two issues here. One is the permission to medically
treat. This can probably be done on an annual basis.

The second is permission for the Scout to participate in a specific
activity. In Cub Scouts these are typically for field trips. I always
insisted upon them after an irate phone call from a mother who was not aware
that we would be visiting McDonalds that day. Never mind that it was on the
calender, in the newsletter, and in a handout her son had taken home the
previous week. With a signed permission slip, you have evidence that the
parent/guardian has knowledge and given approval. This is especially
important in split families.
