If I can, I would like to put in a few cents worth and put a
historical perspective on this issue.
The yellow and blue uniform was originally designed for the "Den
Mother". It was also designed in a style that was modern for the
time. Also, at the time it was designed, few women would have
worn just the "blouse" without an undergarment of some sort. "See
thru" wasn't really an issue.
If a Den was lucky enough to have a "Den Dad", it was likely to be
either the husband of the DM, or the father of one of the Cubs in
the Den, and wasn't really a registered position. He just helped
out with some of the more "physical" things.
The Cubmaster was probably also a Scoutmaster, or one who had
_been_ a SM. Allowing the CM to use the Boy Scout Leader's uniform
was more than likely a matter of simple economics. I'm not sure that
it would have been really cost effective at the time to make a yellow
and blue uniform for "relatively" few CubMasters that there were,
compared to the number of Den Mothers.
Scouting has changed over the years. It's had to.
Now, we have male Den Leaders, and female Cubmasters as well as female
SMs and ASMs, and the uniforms havn't changed to keep up with the
personel changes. Let's not make more of this than is there. OK?
