What would have helped...?

I'll be teaching a class at Akela's Council in the Fall and I'd like to
pose a question for discussion....
For those who are Cub Scout leaders (and those who can remember back that
far (TeeHee) -
What, in your opinion, would have been the most helpful thing to know in
yur first year as a Den Leader, that you know now that you didn't know
then?
I'll start you off - A Bear Den Leader from Scouts-L (Rhonda I think) told
me to go through the Bear Book now and decide up front what we will and
will not go through during Den Meetings and tell the parents NOW.
Knowing this, I might have been able to get through Bobcat and Wolf Ranks
a lot sooner and it would have left more time for conservation patches,
field trips and electives.
Hope you have lots of ideas!
