OK, here's my 2 cents worth:
About 25 years ago Bay Lakes Council was formed by the merger of 6 smaller
Councils. If Council A had a Troop 36 and Council B also had a Troop 36
there had to be some sort of number change. So, why not make one Troop 736
and the other Troop 636?
Some Troops for local reasons decided not to use the first number and go by
"36" even though they are really "636". This is true for some Troops in our
Council.
BTW, when I was a boy in Michigan our Council merged about the same time.
Were there a lot of mergers about 25 years ago?
