When to get Bobcat?

This question involves my youngest son. He just graduated from Tigers in
the last 2 weeks and is ready to go on his Wolf Book. I gave it to him
yesterday to look at. He completed 7 of 8 achievements for Bobcat last
evening (so he HAS been paying attention instead of just causing trouble
while his brother's den has been meeting at our house!).
We don't yet have Den Leaders for his small Tiger (Wolf) group. Because
of the "problems" I've mentioned before in the way last year's Tigers were
formed and the long term, keep cropping up hurt feelings that occured, the
Leadership opted to wait to form the Tigers into Dens until Fall. I have
to agree.
But what should we do if the boys do learn their Bobcat material this
summer? They have no Den Leader to sign their books. We can do awards
after next weeks HIghway Cleanup or during the Pack Family Campout in
August. But with no leader it could be October's Pack Meeting
before books are signed. It sounds like from other posts that most new
Wolfs earn Bobcat right away. My experience was that it took some of my
Scouts until April just to get that far.
As many of you have suggested, I am avoiding "taking this additional Den
under wing" for now. But I want my youngest son to have a good Scouting
experience as well.
Any suggestions? Thanks again.
