Welcome Mike Miller!!

(Wow!! Yet ANOTHER Mike!) You asked:

> Now that I am an Adult leader I want to know what is supposed to placed

Knot, and the
>religious knot. Of the Religious knots, which do I need to where on my
uniform. There

This is the YOUTH Religious Emblem, and that's the one you would wear, with
a Cub
Scout and Boy Scout device attached to it if you choose to wear them.

>and one has a silver backround with a purple knot.

This is the ADULT Religious SERVICE Emblem knot, worn by those Scouters
that have received an adult service award from their faith or another faith for
service to that faith, to youth and to Scouting.

Like the youth awards, there are currently TWO of them from the Catholic Church:

The Bronze Pelican is a service award designed to recognize non-Catholic
Scouters
and those Catholic Scouters previously awarded the St. George Award in the past.

The St. George Award is a service award designed to recognize Roman Catholic
Scouters for service to the Church, to their communities and to Scouting over a
prolonged period of time.

Scouters earning either or both only wears ONE square knot. There is NO
PROVISION for the wearing of any device to signify Scouters whom have been
honored with more than one Religious service award nor ones awarded by
faith(s) other than his or her own.

> The next question has to do with the Eagle Palm. Is it worn on the knot
or not
>worn at all.

The LAST word from the BSA's Eagle Scout Service is that the Palm is an
OPTIONAL item which MAY be worn on the Eagle knot at the option of
the Eagle Scout. Most Eagles will tell you that you should.

In the past, it has went back and forth whether Eagles should wear them on the
square knot....I think that now, they are leaving it up to the individual
Eagle to
decide, thereby avoiding the "seesaw" issue of "should they or shouldn't they".

>Finally, during courts of honors or special ceremonies am I supposed to
>wear the religious metal along with my Eagle metal.

By all means, YES, you should wear both Religious emblem and Eagle Medal
with palm attached. You are permitted to wear up to five medals on the
uniform, and an unlimited number of "necklace-type" awards.

Welcome back to Scouting, Mike. Those items are covered in the Insignia
Guide (except for the Eagle stuff, which has been printed several times in the
NESA Eagletter in the past three years).
