I don't know. Ask the Cub and family if they wished to have that information
announced as part of the Pack meeting. If so, a simple "We would like to
be among the first to officially recognize Johnny Jones as a official member of
the Jones family. Johnny was formally adopted last week by the Jones.
Congratulations!"
If they choose not to have it announced, don't be cute about it and try and
sneak it in...some families are very sensitive toward their new family members
and already have a hard time with school and their relatives already.
When in doubt, it's always a good idea to ASK THE SCOUT and his or her
family before making a public announcement about anything (this goes for
new births and deaths of family members as well).

He wears a six year service star with a green backing, and a three year pin
with a red backing. The number of Explorer Posts has little to do...
remember, Frank, this is a personal TENURE award.
For instance, I was a member of Explorer Post 294 for seven years (from
1973 to 1980); Explorer Post 233 from 1975 to 77; Explorer Ship 230 from
1977-79; and Explorer Post 801 from 1976-78. I was then a youth member
of Explorer Post 379 from 1978-80.
I was also a member of Troop 801 from 1973-76; Troop 666 from 1976 to
77; and again Troop 801 from 1977-1980. This, combined with earlier
tenure with seven other Troops, gives me eight years tenure since 1971.
I wear a eight year pin with green backing to cover my Boy Scout time;
I wear a seven year pin with a red backing to cover the full period from
1973 to 1980, and part of my 15 year pin covers the adult service with
two Explorer Posts and an Explorer Ship from 1978-81.
Hope this helps out!
