This is correct. As an Explorer, at one time I was a member of THREE
Explorer Posts (one in Community Service, one in Communications and
one in Law Enforcement); but could only be a member of ONE Troop
(801).

This is because of the exploration aspect of the Exploring program. It
allows for youth members to "test drive" several possible avenues
without being "locked into" one particular program for a year. This also
is a real pain in the you-know-where for Registrars and District/Exploring
Executives trying to keep track of those all-important numbers (units
and individuals).

Troops have basically the same program, and therefore doesn't need to
have that kind of flexibility. What a lot of Troops have done to get around
this, is to create a Outdoor/"High Adventure" Explorer Post, chartered to
the same partner as the Troop, and have placed their older boys into the
program. It would work the same as the Varsity/Venture stuff, but has the
added twist of adding girls as FULL MEMBERS.

For the information, a Explorer can "multiply register" as members of
more than one Post or Ship, but most Councils tend to restrict it to two
or less at the same time.

Fun, huh??
