Re: Eagle project question.

Jim,

Your son needs to read his Boy Scout Handbook RIGHT NOW. Some of you may
be amazed at how many Scouts have never actaully read the requirements in
the book.
The next step would be form him to get a copy of the Eagle Scout Service
Project Workbook(Life to Eagle Packet) #18-927. Fund Raisers are clearly
out. Projects that benefit the Scouts are out as well. The Scout is
suppose to be doing this for the community (while scouting is part of the
community - it is desired that the scout do something for someone out side
of scouting to broaden his prespectivies and probably for many other
reasons I can not think of right now.)

Both of these specifications are clearly stated in the Eagle Scout Project
Service Workbook instructions. They are also clearely stated in the
Advancement Procedures and Policies Guides that states Nationals guidelines
for advancement. If your son does not yet have this book (Life to Ealge)
GET IT FOR HIM NOW. It should be given and discussed with all Life Scouts
at their Life Scout Scoutmasters Conference (or shortly thereafter). the
instructions you need should be in this book, for more information contact
us or your District Advancement Chairman (since procedures for District
/Council approval of the projects vary by council.)
