Camping on the Web

I had a pleasant experience this morning. I was at the annual
orientation meeting for troop leaders who will be bring troops
to our council's two summer camps. At the break, another Scouter
stopped me, introduced himself, then explained how he had found
our web site for one of the council camps (his troop was from
out of council and looking for a new place to go camping), written
to me about it, and decided on the basis of our description and
dialog to sign up for the camp. He did complain about how difficult
it was to get the information from the council office (our long-time
camping secretary just moved to Texas -- anybody wants to know about
her, she was terrific), but found the information from our web page
very helpful.
I'm sure that some of the other Scout camps on the web have brought
in new troops as well, but I just wanted to share this episode as
part of the revolution in getting the word out.
BTW, if you're looking for a camp in your area, check our list of
Scout camps at http://www.emf.net/~troop24/scouting/camps.html
And if your camp web page isn't on our list, let us know the URL
ASAP and you might have some new troops come this summer as well.
