Re: SEA SCOUTS / SEA CADETS

I just wanted to agree with the writer of this mssg. i did not see the
original mssg, but i've heard it time and time again from scouts on
cadets, and cadets on scouts. i have straddled this fence before, and
even though i am not in cadets any more, i would not slam their
programme, for they have oportunities that scouts may not get. I spent2
weeks on duty with the coastgaurd in humboldt bay as a teenager, and i
learned invaluable information during that stint. i liked cadets because
of the regemented structure, but i also hated the same structure because
the kids who ran it did not understand the whole process that was needed
to maintain it.
i leftcadets because the kids had inferiority complexes(they wanted so
much to be in the military @age 13), and i saw that scouts offered a
bit more on how to become an acceptable citizen in my community. if the
cadets unit nearby wasn't so screwed up, i'd still be in it.
i also learned from cadets that i did not want to go into the military,
and that there are other maritime feilds open for me.
