Re: The REAL problems aboard ship

Kevin,
I know that i havent been around a long time (three years tops), but in
that time I have seen the" Albatross" go from participant to schooner. In
these three years my skipper and I have seen a vast improvement. All that we
have to do is remind them of the God aweful A.M.R. two years ago. That was my
first A.M.R. and it was horrible. Everyone remembers there first regatta but i
wish i didnt remember mine. Ever since Ive been boatswain(two years) Ive made
sure that we came home with nothing less than sloop. About a week before the
regatta, at a meeting, I ask the skipper to leave the room. After he leaves,
me and the three other members that were at that A.M.R. two years ago, stand
up in front of the crew and tell the about it. We tell them how people laugh,
talk, and think about you. By the time the talk is over with the are all
thoroughly inspired. At the regatta and all the way to the regatta, Im
constantly reminding the crew how important the event is. But then again you
dont want to scare them, otherwise this could cause them to "freeze" during
the middle of an event due to lack of knowledge about the event.

I know Im not one to give you advice but Ive been around the block more than
twice.

I hope your not offended by me trying to help you out, but im just trying to
help a fellow sea-explorer out.
