The carrick bend was added to the Quartermaster award about 2 years ago
(my mind is playing tricks on me this morning so I may be off by as much as
a year). It was felt that something substantial was needed to suspend the
ribbon from. The Eagle award was taken as an example of the design.
As to posthumous Silver Beavers, you can call up your council to get the
definitive word on this. I remember that some awards may not be presented
posthumously and I THINK this is one of them. Don't trust my memory
though. Call your council.

I have a couple of questions. (1) When and why was the carrick bend added
to the Quartermaster ribbon?, and (2) can a person be posthumously
nominated and awarded the Silver Beaver?
