Re - Mike Maricle's book list
Mike,
I dont think that Robert Baden Powell wrote a book called Sea Scouting for Boys.
I had never heard of it and I checked with a couple of friends in Britain also.
I have a copy of Handbook for Crew Leaders, Carl D.Lane, BSA, 1st Edition 1941,
second printing 1942.
Other Sea Scout books in English include -
United Kingdom -
Sea Scouting and Seamanship for Boys, W. Baden-Powell,
(James Brown & Son, Glasgow, 1912)
- reprinted (Brown Son & Ferguson, Glasgow, 1936)
Seamanship for Scouts, Lt.Cdr.H.W.Stuart Garnett,
(Wells Gardner, Darton & Co., Redhill, Surrey, 1912)
- 3rd Edition, revised by Tom Browne, 1952
Sea Scout Badge Book - (Brown, Son & Ferguson, early 1930s)
Sea Scout Handbook, (Boy Scouts Association, U.K.)
- no date, probably mid 1930s.
Sea Scouting, Tom Browne (Scout Association, U.K., 1951)
Scouting on the Water, Percy W. Blandford (Herbert Jenkins, 1955)
Scouts on the Water - a Handbook for Leaders, Percy W. Blandford
(Scout Association, U.K., 1975)
Scout Boating, T.A.Stringer (Scout Association, U.K., 1976)
- most recent edition 1993
New Zealand -
New Zealand Sea Scout Handbook (Scout Association of New Zealand, 1977)
- there may have been earlier and later editions also
Ireland -
Sea Training Handbook Part 1 (Scout Association of Ireland, 1985)
Sea Training Handbook Part 2 (Scout Association of Ireland, 1986)
Sea Scout Leaders Handbook (Scout Association of Ireland, 1987)
I have no information at present about any Sea Scout publications from
Australia,
Canada, South Africa or any other English speaking countries.
I have Sea Scout Handbooks from Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, France and Greece.
