You'll need to:
1) send the removal notice to LISTSERV@LISTSERV.TCU.EDU, not
SCOUTS-L@LISTSERV.TCU.EDU.
2) Set your email client on "plain text" email, instead of "Rich Text" or
"HTML". In MS Outlook, this is under the "Format" menu when you create a
new message.
3) Put "REMOVE" in the email body, instead of the subject filed. The
automatic listserv program isn't very smart, unfortunately.
Instead of "REMOVE", you could put:
SET SCOUTS-L NOMAIL
in the email body. This would stop all the incoming mail, and you could
still post to the list.
It's a lot easier (I find) to view the list messages on the web, instead of
through email. Scouter.com has a site for this. I have one too, that I
mostly use myself:
